First Aid for River Runners
About Course
Boating season is ramping up and now is the time to get prepared for the events downstream. Being in the canyons and farther from medical care can be risky if a group member gets hurt or sick.
On March 24th, a one-day basic first aid course will be held at Elk Creek Fire Department in Conifer.
If you have never taken a first aid class, this is the perfect opportunity to learn the basic skills to take care of yourself, family, and trip members. If you have taken first aid or another medical course, you’ll be able to brush up on your skills and knowledge and learn techniques that are specifically tailored to the river and wilderness environments. This eight-hour class is taught by highly experienced wilderness medical providers and will be a combination of lecture and lots of hands-on practice and scenarios.
